When the Enterprise has to fly through an asterioid belt or mine field or whatever, why don't they ever leave the steering to the computer? It would be able to calculate course corrections waaay faster than the human captain!

Oh, and the theme song for Star Trek Enterprise must be the cheesiest for an SF series, ever. I fidn it so cringe-worthy I always fast forward on it.

It took 3 years after the game first came out (not to mention getting a decent paying job and a newer computer), but now I finally have The Sims 2 (+ various expansions & stuff).
So much fun! And it's one of the few games I can play using the tv as a monitor (the screen solution is too poor to easily read text on), which means I can sit in very comfortably the "stressless" chair and play.
I wish they'd added a real handbook explaining all the new stuff you can do in this version, not to mention the new actions and stuff they add for each expansion.
One drawback is that it's much more complex making your own stuff. In Sims 1 you just copied and edited a bmp-file to create/recolour new clothes or faces. Now you have to use a program to extract the texture files, then import after editing, and that programs interface sucks; I don't like programs where I can't figure out how you can use it without reading several pages in a manual.
What I really like is how you now can easily customise faces, and save whole sims. I've made some of my friends, and I can now move them into several neighbourhoods quite easily.

And then there's all the custom made stuff created by the players.
I've found the SG-1 team, the Atlantis team and the support staff - and even Stargates and pyramids and other neat stuff! They've cancelled Stargate Atlantis after the 5th season *sob*, but at least I can have some fun with the characers in Sims 2.

Guess I know what I'll do this winter. :-)

Tuesday, 16th Sep, 2008 08:55 pm - WTF?!
boggles
I come out of a shop today and stand on the edge of the pavement waiting for a gap between cars so I can cross the street.
A woman - normal-looking, late 30s - walks towards me from the left. As she passes my left shoulder, she suddenly spits in my hair!
I spin around after her, first gaping in shock then cursing loudly. The woman - who's passed behind my back fast - skips to the side as she hears me, as if she's expecting to get punched, (which she would’ve been if she hadn’t moved out of range so fast) then speeds up and rushes around a corner.
Seriously, WTF?!!

For 3 whole seconds I was happily convinced it was Friday.
Then I realised it wasn't.

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

NBPS - The Idealist

Nature, Background, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.
